Ana grew up in a haunted house. She went to mysterious places and liked horror movies. She was not one for routines, preferring surprises and trying new things. Maybe that's why she made so many different gestures: writing books, drawing poetry, making performance and cinema, learning and teaching.
Ana Hatherly (1929-2015) was a Portuguese academic, poet, visual artist, essayist, filmmaker, painter and writer. She was considered one of the pioneers of the experimental poetry movement in Portugal. The hand and gestures of Ana Hatherly is a biography book for children, that conveys some of what Ana Hatherly’s life and work was about.
